Remaining 2012 Instrument Maintenance
HFR
The High Frequency Radar nodes in Wainwright, Point Lay, and Barrow will remain operational until the ice forms. Systems will be "put to bed" in late November or early December. View

Drifters
No more drifter deployments are planned. As drifters are beached, they are recovered if possible by our partners at the North Slope Borough Department of Wildlife and will be sent back to us at UAF. Some have been found without drogues, so they will need to be refurbished. We hope to re-use these next year. The drifters that don't run aground will continue transmitting until they are damaged by ice or their batteries run down.
Met-Ocean Buoys
There are three industry Met-Ocean Buoys, and one BOEM/UAF Met-Ocean Buoy deployed in the Chukchi Sea. These buoys will be recovered when the ships leave the area in early to mid-October. View

Current meter moorings
Current meter moorings deployed around Hanna Shoal and in Barrow Canyon will be recovered next year. These instruments store data internally, so the data will downloaded after the moorings are recovered.
